Fixes #698 (closed)
I'm a bit leery about adding this to Solaar because it might introduce new bugs.
The bug causing #698 (closed) is not in Solaar. The situation is not very likely to arise.
On the other hand, when the bug does arise finding out what went wrong is very hard.
